Now that Leigh has completed her second university degree,
Plain Folk, the Side Door’s ‘house band’, is back to its regular formation (Isabelle Delage, Mick Perreaux, Leigh Redding & Val Teodori) and eager to take to the stage for its special brand of relaxed entertainment. We combine the versatility of vocal harmonies and a host of string and other instruments and generally just have a great time on stage!

Mick O’Grady is a Montreal-born songwriter with a North American roots sensibility, distilling folk, blues and country genres. Letters from La Patrie, his first release, reveals these songwriting and musical influences with a mix of solo acoustic and full band compositions. Mick’s live performances feature impassioned vocal delivery supported by fine acoustic fingerstyle guitar and harmonica playing. Mick has opened for many headliners, including Blue Rodeo, Jimmie Vaughn, Jan Arden and others.

Jenny Sardone was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario where she connected with folk music at an early age. Gordon Lightfoot, John Denver and Joan Baez inspired Jenny to pick up the guitar at the age of 8 and in her teens she discovered folk as a powerful medium for protest and activism. Living in Montreal these past three years, Jenny has reconnected with her folk roots and has written a volume of songs that chronicle a seven-year journey of loves, losses, recovery and redemption.

Kitchen Party is an energy filled formation mixing Scottish, Irish and Canadian Celtic styles. Made up of three music graduates, i.e. Sébastien McSween on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Irina Mangov on violin and vocals, and Mathieu David on drums and percussion, the band made two successful tours of Scotland in 2005 and 2006 and, more recently, shook the rafters at the Ormstown Branches & Roots Festival and the Montreal Highland Games.
