Plain Folk is the Side Door’s ‘house band’, made up of Isabelle Delage, Mick Perreaux, Leigh Redding & Val Teodori. We will be performing our usual brand of relaxed entertainment, combining vocal harmonies and acoustic instruments with a bit of Celtic charm thrown in. We look forward to having a great time on stage.

Born in New Brunswick, Jim Collette began playing guitar at the age of 13, and had formed his first bluegrass band by the age of 15. In the following years, he has played with notable musicians such as fiddle greats Eddie Poirier, & J.P. Cormier. In 1986, he moved to Ontario, where he co-founded the Canadian Bluegrass award-winning group BlueRidge, and performed for over 11 years on the Canadian bluegrass circuit, with several showcase performances in Nashville, Tennessee at the SPGMA bluegrass awards, and at the iconic Station Inn . After a job transfer to Montreal, Jim took a break from playing music to concentrate on work and family. Recently he has resurfaced at local “open mic” nights in the Montreal area. Jim’s set at the “Side Door” will be a mix of songs by different songwriters that have influenced him over the years.
Kim Adams and the House Cats specialize in blues, flavoured with jazz, swing, soul, and gospel. A Tennessee native, the band’s namesake was weaned on country, southern gospel and Appalachian music, before finally surrendering to the blues! Pianist Ted Phillips brings the jazz vibe to the band. Bassist Michel Dansereau, guitarist Bernie Yeo, and drummer Jeremiah Mitchell round out the House Cats with notable talent, while Vickie Mortensen adds sweet harmonies to the satisfying mix. Whether it’s the powerhouse vocals, the evocative jazz, or the hard-hitting blues riffs, you’ll be captivated with this band’s professional and engaging show.
