PLAIN FOLK is the Side Door’s house band made up of Isabelle Delage, Mick Perreaux, Leigh Redding and Val Teodori. They will warm up the audience in their usual style, with a mix of tunes that go from the well-known to the obscure, blending four-part harmonies and featuring a host of string and other instruments. Entertainment guaranteed!

DANNY AND HUGH 2 is the blues duo of Danny Bloom and Hugh Wallis. Hugh was introduced to the music of blues legend Huddie Leadbetter, better known as Leadbelly, in the mid-fifties. That was when his wife presented him with a Martin guitar, the same one he still plays today, adding the dobro to his repertoire in the early 60’s. Hugh and Danny met a few years ago, but it was a while before either one knew the other played guitar. Danny was playing 60's and 70's rock at the time, but when he heard Hugh singin’ the blues, he got the bug too. Danny volunteers regularly, playing for kids at the Mackay Centre. Kenny Pauzé, the great guitarist who played at the Side Door with Kevin Harvey earlier this season, will join them on stage for a few tunes.

Banjo-player extraordinaire TERRY JOE BANJO brings an innovative and exciting approach to melodic clawhammer banjo, amazing audiences everywhere he goes. A multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, mandolin and harmonica in addition to the banjo, he is a fine singer and gifted songwriter to boot. Performing from a repertoire from old country crooners and bluegrass breakdowns to modern-day rock songs and a slew of well-crafted originals, this talented musician is a favourite at workshops and festivals and always leaves the crowd clamoring for more. Terry Joe's debut CD, Mountain Calling, an eclectic mix of originals, has garnered critical praise. His banjo playing was featured on the award-winning animated short Nibbles by Chris Hinton. In 2005, he won the Ottawa Folk Festival’s One-Fret-Less award, and in 2007, he was nominated for a CCMA award in the Specialty Instrument category for his banjo playing with the group Desert Heat.

DARA WEISS is a Montreal-born singer and songwriter. A dedicated and active member of Montreal's bluegrass/country scene, she plays her father’s cherry Guild guitar, made the year she was born. Although she graduated from McGill’s Performance program in saxophone, it was bluegrass that won her heart with its haunting blend of the clawhammer banjo and old time fiddle. A member of one of Montreal’s finest bluegrass groups, Yonder Hill, Dara will be appearing solo at the Side Door, but will be joined for a few songs by Terry Joe Banjo, also a member of the group.
