UNLISTED is a jazz band made up of Tony Srouji on guitar, Benoit Chevrier on rhythm guitar, Matthew Cabana on bass and Jacques Dufour on drums. Founded by Tony in 2010, it started out as a jazz guitar duet with Tony and Benoit. Later, Matthew joined the band on acoustic bass. As a trio, they were able to experiment with different jazz styles, covering the old jazz standards, such as Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, and the new jazz standards, such as Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. With the addition of Jacques on drums, the band is able to stretch the boundaries, adding tunes by Ray Charles, the Beatles and Pink Floyd just to name a few. Born and raised in Montreal, Indian superstar Thanya (violin, piano, mandolin, beatboxing, vocals) and Oshawa-native Emilie (harp, flute, piano, vocals) met while auditioning for a talent show. While waiting in line, Emilie thought aloud: "Oh! How I wish I could partake in a cool British Indie Rock Band! *Sigh*". Thanya responded with "OH MY GOD! ME TOO!"... Things got a-rollin'... One day they decided they could use a lead singer. Ali heard about this audition and tried out. Sadly, they cast her as the bass player (her singing abilities weren't up to par, but her bass lines were oh- so- swingin'!) Continuously expanding, the folk trio met some fellows who brought their acoustic sound to a new dimension. Evan Macdonald (guitar, sound effects) adds textures with his bright melodies and jazzy chords and Simon Millerd (trumpet) spices up the sound with his sultry counter lines. With their new name T.E.A & Co., the Folk/Jazz septet, is taking over the Montreal music scene one show at a time. Their first album What's your life like? is highly anticipated and set to be released in June 2012.
